Qld: Hundreds of mourners gather to farewell treasured doctor
Olympic gold medallists are among the one thousand people paying their respects to
a Sunshine Coast sports physician .. who was among the nine Australians killed in the
Papua New Guinea plane crash earlier this month.
A memorial service for Dr JUNE CANAVAN is underway at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Among the mourners are Olympic gold medallist swimmers BRONTE BARRATT and KYLIE PALMER
.. triathlon champion EMMA SNOWSILL and cricketer ASHLEY NOFFKE.
The inspirational sports physician was on her way to Kokoda to raise money for an African school.
Despite having had major heart surgery .. Dr CANAVAN had organised a series of gruelling
treks after hearing the school's donations were drying up.
