Ten: Hewitt and Guccione win epic clash

LLEYTON HEWITT will need to draw on all his famed fighting spirit and stamina .. when
he locks horns with Spanish bull RAFAEL NADAL in the feature second-round singles match
at the Olympic tennis tournament today.

In scenes reminiscent of his near-dawn finish at this year's Australian Open .. when
he beat MARCOS BAGHDATIS in an epic five-set third-round encounter .. HEWITT didn't get
to bed until the wee hours of this morning .. following an heroic doubles victory with
CHRIS GUCCIONE.

HEWITT and GUCCIONE staved off four match points before posting a memorable 4-6 7-6
(7-4) 18-16 triumph over Argentines AGUSTIN CALLERI and JUAN MONACO in a match finishing
after midnight in Beijing.

HEWITT has never lost to the world No.1 in waiting on a hard court .. and despite having
won 33 of his last 34 matches .. including both the French Open and Wimbledon finals against
ROGER FEDERER .. NADAL remains wary of HEWITT.

The pair are scheduled to play the second match of the evening session .. which starts
at 7pm (AEST).
