SPRINGBOK convenor of selectors Peter Jooste is optimistic that flyhalf Ruan Pienaar can recover quickly from his knee injury and be back on form for the upcoming Test series against the British and Irish Lions.
Jooste told the Cape Times yesterday that he was not too worried about Pienaar's injury or his poor goal-kicking up to now. Pienaar is the favourite to wear the No 10 Bok jersey against the Lions in the three Tests during June and July, with Bok coach Peter de Villiers saying earlier this year that Pienaar has the "X-factor".
But the Sharks flyhalf has been patchy this season, combining the sublime with the average. …
