Qld: Broncos slammed for "sexist" contest
Feminists accuse the Brisbane Broncos of sexism after the National Rugby League club
was part of a competition in which female contestants paraded in bikinis.
Women's rights advocate KATE PERRY has called on the Broncos to cancel the so-called
beauty pageant in the wake of the NRL's sexual assault crisis.
Last night, protesters waving placards tried to disrupt the contest judging, claiming
it was sexist and in bad taste, and would further traumatise victims of sexual violence.
Brisbane's City Rowers club hosted the second of 10 heats in the Jim Beam Miss Bronco
competition, during which aspiring models paraded on a catwalk wearing swimwear, a nightclub
outfit and day clothes.
Broncos players DANE CARLAW and COREY PARKER were included on a panel which judged the contest.
