QLD:Charleville watching flood levees
The people of Charleville are waiting anxiously to see if floodwaters will breach the
town's levee banks.
Hundreds of people were evacuated from their homes in the early hours of this morning
as police and emergency workers went door to door, telling people to move to a temporary
centre at the town's racecourse.
Mayor MARK O'BRIEN says the evacuations were made as a precaution, and there are now
hopes the levees will hold after a second emergency bank was thrown up overnight.
